A Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) is a certificate issued by the Building Control Authority confirming that the proposed building or works to which the application relates, if constructed in accordance with the plans and
specifications submitted, will comply with the requirements of Part B (Fire) of the Second Schedule to the Building Regulations.
Your Local Authority Fire Department will process the Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) application for buildings and works in your area, on receipt of a valid Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) Application.
Typically, the Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) application should be prepared by a Fire Consultant or a competent Registered Architect, or a competent Chartered Architectural Technologist on behalf of the building owner.
Once submitted and valid the FSC application is then assessed by a fire officer for compliance with Part B (Fire) of the Building
Regulations.
When granted the Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) is a certification for your proposed building’s fire safety design, if constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications submitted. It is not a certification for the fire safety design of your building when it is completed. You will require further certification for completion of the building in this regard.
